Bob Starkie (Skyhooks)

Sat 12 July

feat. Laura Davidson
'Million Dollar Riff'

The Yarraville Club & Cherry Rock present…

Million $ Riff
Featuring Laura Davidson

Coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the release of “LIVING IN THE 70’S”, BOB ‘BONGO’ STARKIE– guitarist from the engine room of the Legendary SKYHOOKS heads up a band performing all the hits at The Yarraville Club this July. Performing alongside Bob will be singer LAURA DAVIDSON who sounds amazingly similar to the late Shirley Strachan.

In 1998 Bob was inducted into the Aria Hall Of Fame, recognizing the significant contribution he and his fellow Skyhooks made to Australian live music. Bob’s guitar style is rooted in the influence of Chuck Berry. In his show Bob will be playing what he knows best… the ‘Hooks!’

The Skyhooks literally changed the face of rock’n’roll in the 1970’s with numerous Number One and Top Ten singles to their credit as well as two of the biggest selling albums ever –  “Living In The Seventies”, which sold over 300,000 albums and “Ego Is Not A Dirty Word” which sold over 200,000 albums. Their undebatable success derived from combining masterful rock’n’roll with quirky stage antics and thanks to Bob Starkie’s brilliant live show, the music of Skyhooks still lives on!
