David Bowie ‘Young Americans’ and ‘Diamond Dogs’ Anniversaries Honoured in Melbourne

A one-off all-star local line-up of musicians and singers from Melbourne will celebrate the music of David Bowie by honouring the 40th and 41st album release anniversaries of seminal recordings ‘Young Americans’ (1975) and ‘Diamond Dogs’ (1974) in a unique live performance on Saturday 21 March at The Yarraville Club, which will also include other classics from the inspirational and intimidating Bowie back catalogue.

Event organizer James Young reflects, “1974 and 1975 were defining years for the ever-changing super-talent David Bowie as he finished his glam rock period with the outstanding exclamation mark of ‘Diamond Dogs’ and then moved from London to Philadelphia to work with Luther Vandross and re-define soul music in his own inimitable and sexy style on ‘Young Americans.’ Having the brilliant Ashley Naylor and his assembled cast of wonderful and passionate local artists paying homage to Bowie and this stellar musical period and more is an honour, and truly something quite spectacular to behold. Makes me proud of Melbourne’s musical heart.”
